Natasha Bedingfield to Headline the Closing Night Celebration for Sin City Classic Sports Festival
Bedingfield will close out the world’s largest annual LGBTQ+ sports festival on stage at the Brooklyn Bowl on Las Vegas’s LINQ Promenade.
LOS ANGELES, January 4, 2024 – The Sin City Classic Sports Festival Presented by Lexus, the world’s largest annual LGBTQ+ sporting event, today announced that LGBTQ+ advocate & ally and pop superstar Natasha Bedingfield will headline the festival’s annual Closing Party. The 2024 Sin City Classic, hosted by The Greater Los Angeles Softball Association (GLASA), will take place January 11-14, 2024, in Las Vegas, Nevada. The Closing Party will take place January 14 at the Brooklyn Bowl Las Vegas on the LINQ Promenade.
Originally from New Zealand, Natasha Bedingfield grew up in southeast London, where she and her siblings were raised around music. The Grammy-nominated, multi-platinum singer made her solo debut in 2004 and has gone on to become one of the world’s most inspiring and innovative female singer-songwriters. With five albums under her belt, she has over 14 million albums sold and her hits such as “Unwritten,” “These Words,” and “Pocketful of Sunshine” have topped international charts.
Throughout her career, Bedingfield has used her platform as an advocate and an ally to the LGBTQ+ community. In an interview with LGBTQ+ publication Pridesource, Bedingfield noted, “I do shows all over the world, but when I sing at a gay club or at a Pride, I just feel such a strong connection. I feel like my gay audience understands my lyrics more than anybody.
“We are thrilled to have Natasha with the star power she brings perform at this year’s Sin City Classic. The festival brings together the thousands of attendees who come to Las Vegas to for a weekend of competition and camaraderie. The Closing Party is an opportunity to bring community together and celebrate community. We are so thankful to have Natasha there to celebrate with us,” said Sin City Classic Co-Executive Director Dr. Jason Peplinski.
Each January during the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. holiday weekend, the festival kicks off with the Opening Night Registration Party held at the Flamingo Las Vegas. Competitions and nightly social events then take place around the city, with the weekend culminating in the Closing Party.
GLASA created the Sin City Classic in 2008 as an LGBTQ+ softball tournament meant to provide a safe and competitive atmosphere for LGBTQ+ athletes. Over the past 16 years the tournament has grown to include 24 sports and approximately 10,000 athletes and fans. GLASA remains committed to creating the best experience possible for diverse roster of dedicated athletes who participate and the fans and allies to come to enjoy the festival.
